Wednesday, Jan. 10, Day 1: King 5 news announces the threat of snow (Arctic Blast 2007) and we all shout for joy!! The flurries begin just as I am picking up Kennedi from pre-school, around 3pm. Karlin gets home and we are all as giddy as school kids with anticipation! How much will we get?!! We are up every couple of hours that night checking the progress through our bedroom window....The snow is here! Yahoo!
Day 2: Six inches of snow! What fun! We are out on our inner tubes, making snow angels, drinking hot cocoa...This is what winter is all about!
Day 3: After a hard freeze the night before, the roads are slick as snot! Pre-school is canceled, driving to work for daddy is a little scary, but not to worry! We rarely get this much snow, so we are gonna enjoy it! Back out on the inner tube, man....my hands are FREEZING! On the house, icicles are forming that could do more than take your eye out...they could take a life!!! The longest one we measure is 16" long!
Day 4: Down to Olympia to visit Michelle and family, who are here for the weekend. Mollie almost has multiple heart attacks as she witnesses how Karlin drives on frozen roadways. Did I mention it is freezing!
Day 5: Return home to find....MORE SNOW. Yes, it snowed more while we were away, but more importantly the affore spoken snow and ice are still present beneath it all and the icicles have grown.
Day 6: Against all my better judgement, I return to Olympia on my own with the kids. I take it nice and slow on the roads down and enjoy a fabulous day with my beloved sister and family in the much less frozen South Puget Sound. I am only brave if family is involved.
Day 7: We awake to....more snow..... WHAT!? Two more inches!? My sister was supposed to come up today!! It looks like Antarctica outside and those icicles are going to touch the ground! I'm sick of this stuff! I want the rain back! We make snow ball cookies to try and convince ourselves that this is still fun. It doesn't work, as the snow ball cookies taste like "a mouth full of sand" in the words of my ever honest husband. "They were supposed to melt in your mouth!" I retort. "Yeah, if I was a St. Bernard." Now I am crying in laughter. A little comic relief is always nice.
Day 8: The Great Thaw. Hallelujah! I can see pavement on the roads! I can drive myself to get groceries! I can see green grass! The icicles are melting away! Sweet Kennedi is sorely disappointed, as she was the one who brought it all on....she has been praying for snow for months. I blame her entirely. :)

Kennedi looks so cold in that first picture! I just want to wrap her up in a nice warm blanket. I am jealous too! We only got like 2-3 inches total! Stink!
Very creative post!
I could have written this post myself! Thats just how I am feeling about the snow we have. Except we are far from seeing any thawing...supposed to be a high of 2 (yes, TWO) degrees in a couple days! Glad you were safe on the roads.
