In years past, we have celebrated Kennedi's birthday the tradition way. On her birthday. This year I had the idea to try something different. We had her "friend birthday party" in July instead of October. It was perfect! In October I am typically up to my eyeballs with Halloween costumes, other family birthdays, writing the Primary Program, and the Holidays fast approaching. This year we will still celebrate with family in October, but the friend party is out of the way. We also made the rule that her friends absolutely could not bring gifts. Though this may sound harsh, Kennedi was completely on board because it was an "Un-birthday party". It was beautiful! We had pizza for lunch, then we had a treasure hunt, filled little treasure boxes for everyone to take home, and then had cake and ice cream. She didn't even miss the gifts! A great time was had by all and I think we have found a new birthday tradition!

I love it! Did you happen to take a closer-up picture of your cute pirate cake? I'd love to see...
Cool idea! You're girls are getting so big! Can't wait to see you guys in August.
p.s. Did you hear about that new pirate movie? I heard it was rated Aaarrrr! Pretty gay.
Happy Un-Birthday Kennedi! Mollie, that is such a good idea. With Matt's birthday being right after our most expensive holiday, I keep thinking we should celebrate his "half-birthday" and do a half theme: half of a cake and so on. However, getting only half of your gifts (like only one shoe) seemed kind of mean, so maybe I'll think of a clever idea for next year.
I'm so excited we get to see you in August!
Mollie...are you also in the Primary? Our program is comeing up in two weeks and I am terrified!
