The Tooth Fairy!

Well, many of you know that I do not institute the belief in good ol' St. Nick. Instead, I teach the girls about the "traditions" we have here in our country and explain that in other parts of the world they have other "traditions". So, we still participate in the tradition of santa on Christmas eve, we just play santa for each other by sneaking and filling stockings right before bed. I have found that the element of anticipation is not lacking, and I sleep better because of the honesty factor.....That being said!...Kennedi lost her first tooth last week and was well aware of the "tradition" of the Tooth Fairy, (she was soooo excited!) so I knew that whatever I did could not disappoint! After she had carefully placed the TINY tooth in it's special box and drifted off to sleep, I crept in her room and sprinkled fairy glitter EVERYWHERE. It was so fun! I then tucked a little glittery pouch of change under her pillow and left the tooth in it's box because in our house, the Tooth Fairy lets you keep the first one you lose. The next morning I heard her talking to Whitney about it. She said she knows that "the tooth fairy isn't in real life, but it's fun to just pretend." This makes me very happy, because I have still given her the opportunity to use her imagination. She then told me that she would like to keep her 2nd tooth, which will fall out any day, because for Halloween she wants to tape her two teeth to Klare's nose so Klare can be a rhinoceros. We do not lack for entertainment in our house!

Such a great idea about teaching them about traditions!! I think it is a great way to approach all the traditions! Exspecially Santa Claus that way you can focus on the real meaning of Christmas!!

yes, well, looks like she will have to come up with a different idea for halloween after tonight's incident at the restaurant! ha!

Yes, for those of you reading the comments, Kennedi accidentally swallowed her 2nd loose tooth while eating dinner last night. Woops!

That's so exciting for her! Losing teeth was so fun. Her halloween idea cracks me up! Hopefully the tooth fairy can still visit even though she swallowed her tooth!

I also love the traditions idea. I too hate telling my children a lie. Thanks for the great idea!
